Cyclist Safety
Another excellent way to stay fit and healthy, which is also cheap, practical and environmentally friendly is cycling.
  • Do I feel well enough to complete my journey today?
  • Plan your route and allow plenty of time - don't let impatient drivers rush you.
  • Use cycle routes and paths where possible - find out where they are in your area.
  • Travel at quieter times if possible - avoid rush hour.
  • Know the highway code.
  • Consider taking a cycle safety course - contact safertravelteam@lancashire.gov.uk for more details.
  • Ensure your bike is in safe working order before your journey.
  • Wear a helmet.
  • Wear bright/reflective clothing - remember your waterproofs in wet weather.
  • Use front and rear lights and red rear reflector at night and in poor visibility.
